“Handmade means making something with Soul, Creativity and Love.

It means putting “something of yourself”

into everything you create”

The Story

Designer and creator, Laura Halls, graduated with a degree in Fashion Design in 2012, going on to work as a Design Assistant and seamstress, for various different companies. In 2014, Laura found herself frustrated, wondering why her energy and enthusiasm for each role was short lived and decided to take some time out and do something out of her comfort zone and travel to Australia. Quickly, friends for life were made and adventures included a whirlwind romance, picking and packing fruit on farms, working on a sunset cruise, diving in the Ocean, camping in the outback and a lot of parties and beautiful sunsets. After a year in Australia and a few months travelling Thailand and Bali, she returned home, with a new sense of appreciation for life and a sense of freedom and gratitude.

Very soon after being home, word of mouth presented her with an opportunity with Award winning Academy Kobika Dance, creating the dance costumes for their upcoming show. After that there was no looking back and Laura spent the next year working from her home “studio”, frantically creating everything from Shiny Leotards, bold Catsuits, Cheerleading Uniforms and Contemporary Chiffon skirts, for all Kobika’s shows and competitions. Watching the girls dancing and performing so confidently in them, was an extremely proud feeling.

At the end of 2016, after a short trip to India adding to her inspiration, Laura decided to mix Dancewear and Fashion and create her first collection, whilst providing a service to Dance Schools for Custom Wear.

So ‘LAURACATHERINE’ as a brand is formed; inspired by the technique, confidence and strength of a dancer and by the freedom and spirit that comes with travelling and seeing the world.
